South-East London born and raised artist Eliza Oakes, is carving her name as one of the city’s most authentic young voices.
Hailed technically as a vocal athlete, she combines her early musical foundations from gospel roots to a double-decade long study of jazz, classical and musical theatre.
Backed by the PRS ‘Women Make Music’ Fund, at the forefront of her sonic identity, Eliza presents a unique and formidable exploration of the voice that blends classic songwriting, improvisation and performance.
Having recently opened up for Jordan Rakei at The Royal Albert Hall in London, followed by a world tour as a member of his band on vocals, keys, synths & percussion, her versatility as an artist and session musician
has landed her performance and recording credits with the likes of Disclosure, Elbow, Black Country New Road, Gregory Porter, MRCY, Joesef and more.
In addition, Eliza performs as a soloist with the Idrîsî Ensemble, a groundbreaking collective led by Thomas Fournil that revives rare,
previously unrecorded medieval music through the lens of music archaeology, medieval literature, and post-colonial historiography.
Following a series of sold-out London concerts, the ensemble is set to headline at KOKO in June 2025, one of London’s most iconic venues.
